Update 11/20/11: Congratulations, Hannah! You are the randomly selected winner of the BAKINGMAKESFRIENDS cookie giveaway. Thank you to everyone who entered, shared a favorite cookie, and helped make this first giveaway so much fun. More giveaways are coming soon.
Tonight is the very first BAKINGMAKESFRIENDS event, and it feels like the perfect excuse to celebrate with homemade chocolate chip cookies. The idea is simple, sweet, and exactly what it sounds like: bring a friend, bring a baked good, and spend a little time with people who understand that cookies, cake, brownies, and pie can make an ordinary evening feel special.
If you live in the Brooklyn area, come to the bar Maracuja tonight around 7 p.m. Bring something you baked if you have time, or simply come by to say hello and enjoy the spirit of the night. Maybe your chocolate chip cookies will make a new friend. Maybe your brownies will start a conversation. Maybe you will meet someone who loves oatmeal cookies as much as you do. I already know that my chocolate chip cookies want to be your friend.
To celebrate the occasion, I am giving away a whole box of the chocolate chip cookies you see above. This BAKINGMAKESFRIENDS cookie giveaway is for everyone who wants to join the party, even if you do not live in Brooklyn and cannot make it to the event in person. A box of cookies may not be the same as a night out with friends, but it is still a pretty wonderful way to share a little homemade happiness.
What is your favorite cookie?
Leave a comment on this post and tell me which cookie you love most. It can be a classic chocolate chip cookie, a buttery shortbread, a chewy oatmeal raisin cookie, a peanut butter cookie, a sugar cookie covered in sprinkles, or anything else that makes you happy. There is no wrong answer here. Cookies are personal, nostalgic, and often tied to the people and places we love, so I want to hear what your favorite is and why you choose it.
Comments close on Saturday night at 11 p.m. EST. One winner will be randomly chosen and announced Sunday morning by 11 a.m. EST. That winner will receive a box of homemade chocolate chip cookies, baked and packed with care. Free cookies are always worth getting excited about, especially when they are part of a celebration built around baking, friendship, and sharing something sweet.
Here is the nitty gritty: anyone can enter the giveaway, but the shipping address must be in the contiguous United States. If you live outside that area and still want to enter, you are welcome to send the cookies to a friend if you win. Please make sure you leave a valid email address so I can contact the winner and coordinate shipping details. I want the cookies to arrive safely, and I need a way to reach you if your comment is selected.
The winner will be chosen randomly. Please enter only once by leaving one comment per person. This keeps the giveaway simple, fair, and friendly for everyone. Thank you for helping kick off the first BAKINGMAKESFRIENDS event, for celebrating homemade cookies, and for being part of a small Brooklyn baking moment that can travel far beyond Brooklyn through a box of chocolate chip cookies.
