We are sharing a super easy Spider-Man Cookie Cake recipe, along with a look back at our family trip to Universal Orlando for the Family Forward 2016 event. This fun chocolate chip cookie cake is a great birthday party dessert, superhero party idea, or special treat for any little Spider-Man fan.

We first visited Universal Orlando a few years ago, and my boys started asking when we could go back almost as soon as we left. Needless to say, we were thrilled when we had the chance to return and be part of the Family Forward event. Family Forward was a three-day family retreat organized by Mom It Forward for social media influencers and their families, with a focus on helping families connect in the digital age.

Spider-Man Cookie Cake
Our Universal Orlando trip inspired us to make this fun Spider-Man Cookie Cake. It starts with a giant chocolate chip cookie baked into the shape of Spider-Man’s head, then it is decorated with red frosting, white fondant eyes, and black decorating icing for the web details. It looks impressive, but it is very easy to make at home.

Spider-Man Cookie Cake Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- White fondant
- Black decorating icing
Frosting
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 to 4 tablespoons milk
- Red food coloring
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, white sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually add the flour, salt, and baking soda. Beat until the dough is well blended.
- Stir in the semisweet chocolate chips.
- Line a 14-inch round pizza pan with parchment paper.
- Spread the cookie dough evenly over the parchment paper, shaping it into Spider-Man’s head.

- Bake at 375°F for 17 minutes.
- Cool the giant cookie completely in the pan on a cooling rack.
- To make the frosting, beat the softened butter with a mixer until smooth.
- Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk a little at a time, mixing until the frosting is creamy and well blended.
- Add red food coloring until the frosting reaches your desired Spider-Man red color.
- Spread the red frosting over the cooled cookie cake.
- Roll out the white fondant and use a knife to cut out two large eye shapes.
- Place the fondant eyes on top of the frosting.
- Use black decorating icing to outline the eyes and create the web design over the cookie cake.

Here is a closer look at the fondant eyes and black icing details. The web design does not have to be perfect, which makes this an easy superhero dessert even if you are not an experienced cake decorator.

Universal Orlando Family Forward Trip
Now for a peek at our Universal Orlando Family Forward trip. I was so excited to finally meet Amy from Living Locurto, and we loved spending time with her family. We also had a blast on the Skull Island: Reign of Kong ride. It was one of the highlights of the trip and such a fun experience for all of us.

There were so many rides, shows, characters, and family-friendly experiences to enjoy. We also made time for the Blue Man Group show, which was an awesome part of our visit.

We saw some of our favorite characters and superheroes during the trip, and we even had breakfast with the Minions. For my boys, that was hard to beat.

We also visited Cabana Bay, where the pools were amazing and included a lazy river. My boys had so much fun there, and we all loved the retro style of the hotel.

One of the biggest highlights of the trip was visiting the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium. It was a memorable stop for our family and a fun place to explore.

If you are planning a Universal Orlando family vacation, this is a spot worth checking out. The atmosphere was fun, and it was a great place for the kids to enjoy something special.

The desserts were amazing, especially the milkshakes. They were over-the-top, colorful, and exactly the kind of treat that makes a vacation feel extra special.

You can see the excitement on my six-year-old’s face. I had to taste them all, but the Red Velvet Milkshake ended up being my personal favorite.

The food was fantastic as well. We tasted several dishes from around the table, and everyone found something they loved. My boys were convinced it was one of the best restaurants ever.

We were on this trip during the weekend of Hurricane Hermine. Because of tornado threats, we were kept inside the Spider-Man ride area for safety. My boys were thrilled because we were able to ride again and again, and it turned into an unexpected adventure.

Another highlight was meeting this Velociraptor. He seemed sweet at first, until my boys apparently did something to get his attention.

My youngest always loves Seuss Landing, and honestly, the rest of us love it too. It is such a colorful, playful area, and we always enjoy spending time there.

One evening we headed out while it was raining heavily, but the weather did not stop us from having a great time.

We had dinner at Antojitos, and the food was excellent. The Esquites Asados were especially good and made a great appetizer.

We stayed at Loews Royal Pacific Resort and absolutely loved the hotel. It was a comfortable and convenient place for our family during the trip.

The food, pool, rooms, kids’ activities, and staff were all wonderful. It helped make the entire Universal Orlando vacation even more memorable.

We are so thankful to Family Forward for hosting this amazing event and to Universal Orlando for giving our family one of our favorite vacations. We made wonderful memories and are already looking forward to going back.
